Amanda Szymanski, ARNPJillian is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Emory University. During her studies, she interned for a local outpatient therapy center working with children and adolescents on developing social skills, healthy relationships, and positive lifestyles through group facilitation. Honing in on her passion for helping others and working with special populations, she decided to further her education and experience in the field of mental health. She earned her Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University. Jillian initiated her clinical experiences in Brighton, MA at the McLean-Franciscans Child & Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health program as well as substance use work in East Boston.

A native to South Florida, Jillian returned locally to pursue a career in mental health counseling. Jillian first joined Palm Beach Pediatrics in 2013 as part of a grant-funded program through the Mental Health Association of PBC assisting patients and families in need connections to behavioral health resources. Jillian spent the past three years working in a residential substance use treatment facility with adolescents and adults as a primary therapist, supervisor and group facilitator.

Jillian is passionate about treating the whole mind, body and spirit in traditional therapy and creative techniques. Her background in creative arts and dance brings an exciting and attractive spin to her work with children and adolescents. Her work encompasses behavioral, cognitive, dialectical-behavioral and person-centered treatment modalities. Jillian is trained in art therapy techniques and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapy effective for trauma resolution. She has experience working with, but not limited to, individuals and families impacted by traumatic events or experiences and substance use.

When she is not working you may find her adventuring outside on her paddleboard, exercising or researching new recipes for cooking. Jillian is thrilled to be joining the Palm Beach Pediatrics team as a clinical therapist and will be building our behavioral health services to offer within the practice.
