In 1984 Palm Beach Pediatrics was born. Dr. Daniel Kraft hired Jayne Brennan, “Dr. Jayne”, as his nurse practitioner to practice out of a small office on Gunclub Road in West Palm Beach. Dr. Kraft retired in 2014, but Jayne continues to hold the torch as an original provider. She is taking care of grandchildren now of her original patients.
Dr. Kraft hired Jayne after her training at University of Miami and experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jackson Memorial. For over 30 years Jayne has accumulated experience few in the practice can possibly have. On many occasions in the “good ol’ days”, Dr. Kraft left her in the office while he would need to go to deliveries and she would have to see very sick children. It was the time before many vaccines we give today so meningitis in infants was not an uncommon problem. Due to her experience, it is common that the other providers say “let’s have Jayne look at it” for many unusual rashes. Jayne diagnosed chickenpox for many years before most of the other providers were even in school to learn about it! Now with the vaccine, most of the other providers have never had the chance to really see chickenpox in anything other than a textbook.
Dr. Kraft tells many that Jayne is the only pediatric provider he has ever known to give great advice prior to having her own child. That advice just improved even more after her son was born. Jayne is known as the “Sleep Nazi” so if you are having trouble with your newborn’s sleep pattern, ask for her!
What Jayne enjoys about working at Palm Beach Pediatrics
There’s a saying: If you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life. To be here this long, you’d have to believe that!
