Dr Bell was born in upstate New York, but lived in Western Massachusetts throughout his childhood. He played many sports that included soccer, football and golf in the summer and skied in the winter. He went to school at Pittsfield High School, Tufts University in Medford, Mass and Tufts Medical School in Boston. Dr. Bell became a pediatrician because kids are fun and resilient. He believes that pediatricians can influence their future health and well-being. He joined Palm Beach Pediatrics in 1987.
Dr. Bell met his wife while in medical school where she was a pediatric intern in Boston during a pediatric hospital rotation. They began dating as soon as that rotation ended and eventually married. Dr. Bell’s three children are now in their late twenties and early thirties. His oldest daughter is pregnant with his first grandchild! His memories of parenting are now a blur. He remembers that they were so busy and the kid’s schedules were so busy that in hindsight, they don’t know where we found the energy. Their children played almost every sport and the girls danced from about age 5 until they graduated from high school. Each of their kids had their own unique personality so they always kept them guessing. Now that they are young adults, they are beautiful people despite the many parenting mistakes Dr. Bell feels he made!
When not working, Dr. Bell and his wife enjoy traveling, especially visiting their kids in New York. While there they try to see a Broadway show and visit a museum. They love going to Maine, Cape Cod and Western Massachusetts in the summer.
